I use vegetarian-restaurants.net to find vegan fast food for lunch, then after a 30 minute delay at the gas station make my way to Palms Thai in Hollywood for dinner with Lan and Bonny, Carl Weaver and his wife, Paul Dateh, Mike Ambs, Annie Tsai, Amanda Congdon, Mario Librandi and their friend Sara.

Although Palms Thai was able to accommodate my vegan needs, they did so by converting a non-vegan dish and it ended up being a little bland (they removed the fish sauce and something else that I can’t remember to make it vegan). All in all a decent experience although watching everyone else eat delicious meat Thai dishes was excruciating. The best part of the evening was Thai Elvis, man that guy can rock some Elvis.

Hurray, you found some food *and* posted day two. I was beginning to wonder if you had already starved to death!

I have a vegan friend here in Phoenix and she rarely shows up anywhere without a bag of food. She just carries food around. Fruit and crackers, sometimes marinated olives & onions, sometimes some leafy greens, sometimes some sauteed vegetables. This girl can pull a gourmet meal out of nowhere in under a minute. You might consider at least carrying around some fruit for yourself.

I love the camera shots with the car situation. You are such a brave guy for going through this… I will always remember the fade to black with “I want a burger!” :)

I’m trying to picture a non-vegan guacamole….and it frightens me.

I like the crusty lettuce ending. It gives me chills, like when Homer’s eyes crusted over from lasic surgery.

Of all places I would expect that it would be really easy to go vegan in SoCal. Im surprised that you are having that much trouble finding places to eat.

    Hi Vu,

I thought you might have given up the vegan idea or at least videoing it for us, so glad to hear you haven’t on either.

I think this link might make your life easier:

Good luck and keep us posted.
